Thinking Thursday or Laughing All The Way To Friday!!!

PONDERISMS

I used to eat a lot of natural foods
until I learned that most people  die of natural causes.

Gardening Rule:
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed
and not a valuable plant
is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house
is to buy a replacement.

Have you noticed since everyone has a camcorder these days
no one talks about seeing UFOs like they used to?

Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

All of us could take a lesson from the weather.
It pays no attention to criticism.

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird.
Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire,
but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Who was the first person to look at a cow and say,
"I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here,
and drink whatever comes out?"

Who was the first person to say, "See that chicken there?
I'm gonna eat the next thing that comes outta its butt."

Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face,
he gets mad at you,
but when you take him on a car
ride,
he sticks his head out the window?

Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

QUESTION:

How many women with PMS / MENOPAUSE
does it take to change a light bulb?

WOMAN'S ANSWER:

One! ONLY ONE!!!!
And do you know WHY?
Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb!
They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!!
They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out.
And ...
once they figured it out,
they wouldn't be able to find the #&%!* light bulbs
despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CABINET
for the past 17 YEARS!
But if they did, by some miracle of God,
actually find them,
2 DAYS LATER,
the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb
would
STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!!!!!
AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER
THE FREAKING LIGHT BULBS CAME IN!!!

BECAUSE NO ONE EVER PICKS UP OR CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE!!!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED
FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE
THAT ARE A FOOT DEEP
THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE!!
IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY
TO CLEAN THIS PLACE!

AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON WHO CHANGES
THE TOILET PAPER ROLL!!

I'm sorry. What was the question?

My greatest fear is that there is no such thing
as
PMS or MENOPAUSE
and
THIS is my REAL personality!!!

Waiting For Tomorrow Or Living Today?

Last week, I called a girlfriend that I hadn't talked to in a while and she told me that she had to go to the Doctor and get some medicine to help her with depression because she had gotten so down that she woke up every day and thought about nothing but her own death ...

I told her I was sorry she was going through a tough time and asked her if she was feeling better now.  She said she was.  That's a relief.

I went to a girlfriend's housewarming with another girlfriend ... I think our husbands called it a "hen party" ... lol ... and on the way, my friend, who is nearly six feet tall and blonde said that she didn't feel pretty anymore and she didn't have anything in her life that she felt passionate about, that all she does is work and the rest of the time, she is just waiting to die ...

Gosh ... two women in one week!

I know when you are feeling down, no one else can make you feel good about the world so I listened and smiled occasionally ... until she asked me what I thought.  I said I didn't know where to "find passion" but I know that looking for it and discovering it can be the most exciting thing she has ever done.  I asked her what if she took some classes ... went to Barnes and Nobel and checked out different things like glass blowing or pottery or travel or maybe philosophy or anything else she had ever just wondered about ... maybe photography or painting ... antiquing ... gardening?

I said, "It sounds like you have lost your sense of wonder ... and once you start wondering and asking questions again ... you will find your passion in abundance."

She asked me what I meant and I said ... "Okay, imagine that every day is a classroom and everything we see and hear is a jumbled part of the lesson plan ... it's interesting to see how all those things might tie together and sometimes, random ideas start to form a pattern ... bread crumbs to a new idea ... and viola!  The thing you are looking for turns out to have been right there in plain sight!!!"

We were both quiet for a while.

I thought it best to let her think about what I said and I did some thinking too ... I can't imagine just sitting anywhere waiting to die ... I could live another 40-50 years or I could die tomorrow!  Either way, I would want to spend my last day or the next 40-50 years waiting for something that will be here too soon, no matter when it comes!

We are all closer to the day we will die than we were yesterday, but we also might be one day closer to winning the Nobel Peace Prize or the lottery or finding the cure to cancer or moving into our dream house or watching our child/grandchild or the neighbor's child become president ... Who knows what tomorrow will bring or how many tomorrows we have between today and the day we leave this earthly plain?  I want to make each day count!

Maybe, the thing that keeps us ALIVE is living NOW and wondering about the things we see and hear and asking questions of life?

My mind wandered to my favorite thing ... I love to watch people.  Just the other day, I took a break to stop at a coffee shop.  I watched a lady make pastries in a bakery while I drank tea.  She rolled out the dough and sprinkled it with cinnamon and nuts and reminded me of a orchestra maestro the way she spread the cinnamon and nuts.  There was music playing and she and the other workers were working to the song.  It could have been a musical ... lol.  An older man and older woman came rushing in to get a roll and coffee and the woman rushed all around fixing and fussing over the man while he sat reading his paper and I smiled when he set his paper aside and put his hand on her hand and said, "It's okay ... Just sit here with me and enjoy your coffee."  I couldn't help but think of Joey because that is the sort of thing he would do.  I don't know what was worrying that woman, but her husband already knew it would be okay.  Another woman was just outside, working in the garden, planting pansies.  She had her hair pulled back and one piece kept falling out and getting in her way.  Her hands were dirty so she'd puff at the strand of hair and toss her head like a horse to get it out of her way and I smiled thinking of all the times things have gotten in my way.  Puffing at them didn't work so well for me either ... a college aged girl and a college aged man sat on opposite sides of the shop working on their laptops oblivious to the world around them.  They would have made a cute couple and might have met and fallen in love that day if that day was 20 years ago before lap tops ... and from there, my mind played through the times I have fallen in love and before I knew it, my break was over and it was time to get back to the rest of the day ...

If that break had happened on my last day on this earth, it would have been a good day ... and yesterday was a pretty good day too ... and today looks to be pretty nice!

I don't know where you all are going to, where you have been or where you are going next, but right now, in this moment, you are here with me and I am glad!  It's good to see you.  I like reading about your day to day.  Sometimes, your words become a part of that day's puzzle and they bring me to the neatest places!

Thank you!
