I was gathering quotes for this week's OVERHEARD and I have a bunch of good ones that I decided to save for next week as soon as I read Captain Morgan's post which I am reprinting here with his permission. Someone new to Blogstream asked me what Blogstream was all about. I believe Captain Morgan said it best.

This is what Blogstream is all about ...

I came to the Stream to write. When I first set sail here I had no idea I'd soon find a virtual family, a communal confluence of hearts and minds, an enclave if you will. A place where I could share the magic of the Hitchcock Railway, reminisce about years spent working on the road, explore new horizons and let the words just spill out’ve my head.

There’s been some adversity along the way, but it always seems to subside soon enough. Maybe not as soon as it should, but eventually the Stream flows on and washes the negativity away. The purpose of my post isn't to dwell on the unpleasant moments.

It’s time to celebrate all the good people I've met here on the Stream ... so ... here goes in no particular order. I'm sure you've discovered just how random Captain Morgan can be. Pull up a chair and make yourselves comfortable on Captain Morgan’s back porch. There’s room enough for all of you!

First things first. None of this would've happened without love and encouragement from my soul mate, lover and best friend, Mrs Morgan ( His Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by HisQueen ) When Chey’s wrestling career was flying high it was I who was the wind beneath her wings. When I decided to begin writing again, it was she who was the wind beneath my wings. My book would have never been published without her and I'd have left my writing behind.

My dear friend - Second Chances by Coloconnect - You were the first to befriend me when I came to the Stream and our friendship has grown strong since those early days. I've watched your journey rise in the sky like a new morning sunrise. Your posts have been a source of inspiration and fascination.

My amazing friend - Strange Phrase Indeed by Kristin - You've brought me more smiles than I deserve and shared parts of your world that gave me the perspective I was searching for. Your posts brightened my mood on the tough nights working in the foundry and it was you who inspired the convergence of destiny and chemistry.

INSIDE THE FLAME by ^BELLE^ - and her Yankee ( Has Life Escaped Me? by The Yankee ) - The two of you have reminded me just how incredible the magic can be when soul mates unite. Sharing all that happiness means more to me than I can explain in words.

The Paradox of the Prankster by Prank and Mr. happy. You're one hell of a good friend! The fun we had doing the Blog Inquirer interviews on Lucy’s blog will always be some of my fondest memories.

Renegade, I often wonder how life’s going for you and I miss your smiling face here on the Stream. It’s just not the same without you. DonutsAreMyLife. Good gawd we shared a bunch of laughs together. I will forever be in your debt for all the laughter you brought me and our friendship is alive and well, no matter where you go!

There you have it, my Streamer friends. I salute each and every one of you. My list is by no means complete. There are many other friends here on the Stream that I want to mention, but my fingers are about to fall off and my post just keeps growing. Be patient with me. I'll surely make more posts like this as time goes by.

If I had one wish in the world, it would be that Chey and I could spend time with all of you here on the Ponderosa back porch. You ALL are very special people and very much a part of Captain Morgan’s virtual family here on the Stream.

His Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by HisQueen and Living and Dying in 5/4 Time by Captain Morgan - It just doesn't seem right not to return the kindness they expressed in this writing or the kindness that they both have shown me. The way that Chey and I became "sisters by 1/2 second" was actually after a series of those wonderful, silly little tests. Every time she and I took a test, we joked at how close our answers and scores always were. One of us said "we could be sisters" and the other said "we could be twins" and thus, a sisterhood was born. I love Chey and her hubby too! Cappy is a true story teller, weaving through plots and introducing us all to the most fascinating people on The Hitchcock Railway and beyond. As much as I like his fiction stories, I really love when he talks about their REAL stories, Chey's pro wrestling days, his musician days, and their falling in love ... chokes me every time.

A Jesus' Alien on Earth by Praywithhope and radicaldiscipleship by AZRON - Talking about love stories made June and Ron come to mind next. I met June first. She is always so positive and leaves such kind and encouraging comments. I accidentally ran into Ron somewhere and he mentioned his wife, June?!!! I asked him if he was married to "our June"? He of course was! I said then and I still say now that it is really inspiring to meet a marriage made up of TWO REALLY GREAT people. It makes me want to celebrate their marriage with them!

Looking for Truth by Lookin' - Have you ever had a friend that just made you smile every time you see her? Lookin is one of those friends. I like her spunk. I like the way she talks (writes). I like the way she thinks. I love the way she loves. She lives her life with an OPEN heart and an open mind. She teaches me without ever saying a word ... by just being WHO she is. She is my heart to heart friend.

The Maine woods by woodsman - this is a site that is not updated a lot during the warmer months but this gentle person has a beautiful spirit and a very gifted way of pulling the reader into his life. Once you start reading, you won't be able to stop!.....and since I'm from Maine.....how could I resist?!

Kates Coven by katie - katie is a very special lady who is extremely intelligent, kind and sincere. Her posts are extremely informative and educational, with a hint of humor thrown in. She is genuine and treats those who visit her site to a cruise through Salem, Mass (a beautiful spot) that I drool over.

The Library Cat by Bookworm - I visit this site everyday as it is sure to bring a smile to your face, no matter what your mood is. Bookworm is unique in his approach to humor in that he doles it out to both males and females, equally:) If we can learn to laugh at ourselves....what a gift!

The Geekly Planet by Zappa Fan - has that irreverent sense of humor and has the ability to make me laugh at myself.

The Sword of Justice & Other Stuff by The Valkyrie - writes a blog categorized as Public Interest and touches upon all subjects from the political to her frustrations with just everyday stuff that makes us all sigh with resignation.

Mr Ornery's Corner by MrOrnery1851 - is one of the absolute best writers of comedy that is found in the stream. He sees the ridiculous in every situation and writes in a way that will have you rolling on the floor laughter.

4 Kids I Must Be Nuts by Angie and Adoption & life in General by Tina_sa - Reading their blogs brings you into their everyday world in trying to raise kids with the love and attention they deserve. you feel the joy and the pain along with them.

MindPower by Decorous - she is an amazing and resilient young lady who despite some setbacks has managed to embrace life. She is an incredibly bright young lady and her posts are incredible for a person of her age. (also) Hailey is my favorite ... Her intellect and youthful approach to the world gives me great joy.

Private Time Reflections by Grandpa John - this is my first read every day - Monday to Friday. Grandpa is has the best turn of phrases, I think, on the stream. If you have never been there you need to give it a try for a week - he posts Monday - Friday And not only is he witty in his post - you never know what he will come back in his response. His is one where I usually read the comment section the next day as well.

Exhaling by SammyJo - is a dear one; she is all over the spectrum with her posts but she has a heart of gold within her. You can find love, laughter as well as a bit of sadness there.

Simple Photos. by melissarawr - a young one aspiring to a career in photography.

Winds Of Change by VEGAS - has definitely had more than her share of changes in the past months ... and is dealing with them quite well. She is always cheerful and encouraging.

I'm not smart just determined by Truth Seeker - was one of the first people I met here on the stream. Mr. TS is one of the most honest, transparent person I know here on the stream.

BIG DEANS FUNNY STUFF FOR YOU! by FROM MY VIEW - Big Dean's Funny Stuff for you - always a good sense of humor in the midst of his own personal struggles. He writes me a pm every morning to greet me! When a friend of mine was ill, Dean reached out to him and send a photo of himself which my friend proudly posted in his nursing care room.

A good laugh is great medicine by Topaz - when I first came here ... her's was one of the first I would read ... I always knew I could get a smile from her ...

Life's Trip by Curious - She usually writes short, pity posts that are interesting to read and comment on. Her subject matter ranges from feeling young while growing old to pickled beets.

Girl and Dog in the City by Night Bug - She is a 25-year-old college student from North Carolina whose sense of humor combined with a writing style that is little off the beaten path makes for interesting reading. I always get several laughs from her take on life.

Rants & Raves from Palm Springs by AMWolfe - He is from Palm Springs, California. He hasn’t been on Blogstream but a short time. I like his writing style as well as the topics he chooses to write about.

Mistress Reba Speaks by Mistress Reba - because she and others already mentioned are what keeps this stream ticking with the flavor of friendship and the energy and Joy that makes it all worth while. They all stand their ground for what they believe and I admire that so much.

illumination guy's by illumination guy's - is such a sweetie he is the first to say "Hi Good Lookin" and the Lookin' part just seemed so natural that it stuck from that point on. He has a great heart and just makes me happy whenever he is around.

Lamb be Suz by Suz37 - She has been my best friend since 9th grade. Her very British mom calls her scurge.. and I call her love. She is the most unconditional friend. A good person in her heart.. and soul. I love the stories she tells about her family... I feel like I am with her when she does.

Musings from Empire Records. by Gavin - What an awesome heart this guy has. When I read his blog I feel what he is writing. It is like watching an episode of the wonder years when he writes.

The Adventures of Bipolar Girl by Laurel Crowned - Yep she is still writing. I love her for her gritty and honest posts that sometimes tug at your heart.. and encourage your soul Laurel Crowned never pretends to be anything she isn't. She is genuine.. witty and smart. I am fortunate to call her friend.

WANDERING WITH THUNDER by WanderingLewis - I like reading his accounts of his life in Cleveland. It brings back memories and I can 'see' some of the places in my mind.

Ruby's Slippers by Ruby13 or POTS AND PANS by Ruby13 - She's a great lady with a wonderful sense of humor!

LIFE: With BryM by Bry_M - He has the funniest sarcastic wit I have read in a long time!

A Nightingale by Sharona - she has such a lot of physical ailment to deal with yet she is such an uplifted and positive person!

The bat cave... by shrink - his regular daily existence with a touch of irony and humor.

ACoupleKnucklesDeep... by theblaast - never quite sure what angle he is going to come from. He holds a lot of intelligence and manages to get his thoughts across in an edgy/humorous manner.

Starwalker Questions by starwalker - He is a man who is devoted to his family and has the integrity and confidence to be open to new ideas yet keeps his moral compass pointed straight to God's values. Devoted to being the best he can be and always wanting to improve. He doesn't know that he has arrived ahead of most in the game of life. I believe he is a precious soul, a gentle spirit, a loving husband and a caring example to his children.

Escaping The Pig Pen by Late Bloomer and Peanuts In My Pepsi by Slick - all women of my age and I feel a bond with them. We are all in a transitional age ... looking back at where we were, accessing where we are, looking ahead to how far we have to go.

Breadcrumbs by Padma - is truly a very uplifting spirit. Her knowledge is outdone only by her personality. She is one of the streams truly unique gems.

My Life On The River by dixie - is a true nature lover who finds joy in the simple things in life. She has a heart that encompasses all living things.

TAB'S WARPED WORLD by Totally Ass Backwards - One never knows what topic he'll be applying his "warped" world view to when you stop by, but if you stop to read him, you might find he's not quite as warped as he thinks. He's just having fun.

Maybe a surprise or two by Tomme - has been a good friend to me for sometime now ... an all around good person!

Still trying to figure it out by Blueeys - We enjoy Bluegrass music and fishing stories and she has a great personality!

aircooled underground by capananda - has a great eclectic style of writing and a way of invoking very vivid memories...mmmm... he must be a therapist or something!

The Mommy Zone by Cheyenne - I love the way it is written with such humor, I have missed her updates.

friends with lie's by Friends @ end - is also a nice blog but then I biased as it is my youngest sons!

lets do it on the bus by busmanterry - He is so sweet, and he's for real. When my family went through a terrible time a few months ago he did a very touching post for me and he's been wonderful!

Chicken Littles by LilLadyReg - She's straight-up and she does a great blog----funny and interesting!
