I took a walk this morning ... I love having extra time to think, to ponder, to dream ... to contemplate the roads that I have travelled ... If I had it all to do over again ... I would probably do everything the same because I didn't know then what I know now ...
As much as I have learned ... as much ground as I have covered, I still have a long way to go ... so many questions I still want answered ... so much I want to do ...
I came here to share some of the things I have learned but I am beginning to think that ... nothing I could say to anyone will change much about what anyone else will do ... Wisdom has to be earned, one heart at a time, and it hardly ever comes easy. Wisdom comes to us for a price ... and as much as I would like to ease another's pain and smooth out another's path, I do not know the individual wisdom or the personal price another will have to pay, so I am here to do what I have always done ...
Pass out huggggggggggggggz and plant seeds ...
You know, very few people ever turn down the wrong road "on purpose" ... We make hundreds of tiny decisions in the course of every day and who can know what little decision will open a door or burn a bridge?
I picked up a quote book when I got back home, blew off the dust and was reminded of the coolest things!
How we spend our day is, of course, how we spend our lives. ~ Annie Dillard
Nothing is worth more than this day. ~ Goethe
Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure that you are. ~ Mary Jean Iron
FAITH is believing when common sense tells you not to.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. ~ Thoreau
The stuff that wears on your nerves polishes your soul. ~ Sharon Valleau
Never stop being curious.
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. ~ Helen Keller
I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less. ~ Anna Quinlen
If you have no regrets, you need to get out more.
~ Stacey Donovan
There are two ways to live your life - One as if nothing is a miracle and one is as if everything is. ~ Albert Einstein
It is never too late to be what you might have been. ~ George Eliot
What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail? ~ Dr. Robert Schuller
The best way out is through.
If you can't get out of it, you might as well get into it.
One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ Andre' Gide
The tide will always turn ... and turn ... and turn ... and turn ...

Tuesday May 20, 2008

My eyes have been bothering me. I worked outside last week. It was windy and too much junk blew into my face and eyes.
I put eye drops in and take a few showers every day just so the water can run over my face and eyes. This evening, after supper, I decided to "soak my face" ... While I was in the shower, Joey popped his head in and said, "Better hurry up. There's a storm headed our way."
The warning may sound strange but we live in a part of the country where every time the wind blows, every time it rains, every time it snows, sometimes even on sunshiny days for no reason at all, we lose power. It's no fun at all to get all soaped up and lose power!
I said, "Okay, I'll hurry!"
Just then, the lights flickered ... Ouch! Not a good sign!
I said, "Please Lord, let us keep power 'til I finish!"
The lights flickered a tiny bit more like God saying, "Okay Girlie, I'll handle it!"
I got out of the shower, feeling refreshed and ... well, protected ... God really does care about our little stuff. How many times in my life did I slog through something on my own strength without asking God for a little help, a boost or even a shove in the right direction?
Too many to count!
Tonight, because I asked, God answered ... In fact, we never did lose power! It was a miracle! It might seem like a little thing to you but it is a big thing to us.
What if life really is that simple?
What if the reason we don't have the things we hope for is because we don't ask?
Maybe, the physical trouble with my eyes was just opening the door for me to spiritually SEE something more clearly!
God really does love us. He's not just God, Creator of the Universe. He is God, the Father, and He's a good Father. Our minds can easily understand why a wealthy man would lavishly provide for his children ... so why is it so hard for us to believe that God, the Father, who "owns everything we see", wouldn't make abundant provision for us?
From now on ... I'm asking Dad! He'll know what to do!

Today I Will Make a Difference by Max Lucado
Today I will make a difference. I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of his thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful. I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference.
I will be grateful for the twenty-four hours that are before me. Time is a precious commodity. I refuse to allow what little time I have to be contaminated by self-pity, anxiety, or boredom. I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant. I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for loving and giving. Today I will make a difference.
I will not let past failures haunt me. Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on. Victoriously. No failure is fatal. It’s OK to stumble… I will get up. It’s OK to fail… I will rise again. Today I will make a difference.
I will spend time with those I love. My spouse, my children, my family, my friends ... A man (woman) can own the world but be poor for the lack of love. A man (woman) can own nothing and yet be wealthy in relationships. Today I will spend at least five minutes with the significant people in my world. Five quality minutes of talking or hugging or thanking or listening. Five undiluted minutes ...
Today ... I will make a difference.
(From Shaped by God)

There are so many things going on in my everyday, chores and to-do lists that never end, letters to write and cards to send, phone calls to make ... I have a couple of thing worrying me. Nothing big and nothing that won't take care of itself. There has been good news, upcoming celebrations, funny things, happy moments, goofy stories that you really would have to have been there ... Life! With it's ups and downs, twists and turns, lessons and blessings, I wouldn't trade a single minute, good or bad, because every minute brought me to right here and right now! Today! ... and today, one way or another, no matter what, Lord willing and the creek down rise ... I will make a difference!
( P.S. You can make a difference too, if you want to )

Tax Stimulus Check I just went out and got the mail and there was a letter from our good old government (much sarcasm used when I say good) It had to do with our Stimulus payment and how much we could expect to receive. Well go figure, everything they had been telling us from the beginning about the amounts we could expect have somehow along the line changed and we will be getting $600 less then what we expected. The Price Of Gas ...
IT BELONGS TO PRINCE ALWALEED OF SAUDI ARABIA. Remember this when gasoline hits $5.00 a gallon. You paid for this one. Lou's World by Miss Lou
One day in October of 1973, I was upset when I entered a service station to fill up the gas tank of my car. Overnight, the price of gas increased from 35 cents to 40 cents a gallon (rounded off). This was a result of the oil crisis created when the Arab states placed an embargo on oil as punishment for U.S. support for Israel. Little did I realize at that time that 35 years later, I would be paying ten times that amount for a gallon of gas. Whit's Whittlings by Whit's Whittlings

POLITICS

"Thanks for including the "Rolling Stone" graphic on your post. However, it should be noted that this particular issue came out in October, 2006. This was one month BEFORE the election that gave the Democrats control of the House and Senate. It was a condemnation of a Congress that was in REPUBLICAN hands. I just don't want your readers thinking the magazine was writing about the leadership of Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid." Touchy Subjects by Mokie Joe

HEALTH
Breast cancer patients with low levels of vitamin D were much more likely to die of the disease or have it spread than patients getting enough of the nutrient, a study found, adding to evidence the " sunshine vitamin " has anti-cancer benefits. The results are sure to renew arguments about whether a little more sunshine is a good thing. The skin makes vitamin D from ultraviolet light. Too much sunlight can raise the risk of skin cancer, but small amounts, 15 minutes or so a few times a week without sunscreen, might be beneficial, many doctors believe. Idle Thoughts by Granny

My garden is greening up beautifully! I harvested my first spinach today, actually, and we'll be eating some for dinner tonight! How cool is that? Who knew I'd be so excited over spinach! I think everything is pretty much planted now, although I'm still looking for some canteloupe seeds or seedlings. No one has them around here, they were all sold out by the time I had a good day and got to the farm store. No worries, though, I will have watermelon (of course, I don't like watermelon...) and plenty of other yummy goodies. I do love canteloupe though, and hope I can find some seeds to start. I wonder if it's too late to order them online? From a Mom's perspective by Palikari

TROOPER JUNIOR: "Me-Ma, say it." OFFICER: "Really......" ME-MA: "His daddy is a State Trooper and he calls him, Po'po, too." OFFICER: "That explains it." TROOPER JUNIOR: "Me-Ma, has big boobies." OFFICER: 10-4. I go in search of Princess. ME-MA: "How about switching kids with me?" PRINCESS: "Why?" ME-MA: "Because yours can hardly talk." INSIDE THE FLAME by ^BELLE^

I love to scavenge. If I drive by and see something abandoned with a 'free' sign on it, I have to stop and check it out. That's how I've decorated the house so far - taking in old stuff and fixing it up new. It's affordable and really healthy for the environment to reuse as opposed to buying new. Well, today, I hit the monkey box motherload and it's perfect for my dad for father's day. Speakers, amp, and electric guitar. They all work. As an adult I think back to when I was a child and then I bring myself back to the here and now. I think that what disturbs me most is how little is left to a child’s imagination, If you can think about something, you can either go online to find it, or just buy the video game. How sad it is for me personally, to witness what seems to be the slow death of childhood, how sad indeed. Echoes From The Tomb. by Scratch

 Whispered Promises by Whispered Promise

I can't remember being inside my house except to sleep and eat because I was always outside playing. We would play soccer with all of our friends in her back yard or everyone would be in our yard jumping on our trampoline. On other days, we would find creative ways to make a buck or two by selling lemonade or collecting recycling to take downtown. With our hard earned cash, we would ride our bikes to the gas station about a mile away and buy a soda or candy. It's strange how times have changed because kids aren't even free to be in the front yard now, yet back in the early nineties, I was gone from sun up to sundown and nothing ever threatened my safety. I found hope in the hopeless situations. The very first time that I felt faith inside myself I was looking into the eyes of one of the faithless.
